MEND Workshops has been born out of the journey that Dottie and Terrill Williams have shared for the past several years. Each had previously been married for twenty-three years and lost their original families through the heartbreak of divorce. The day of their wedding, they brought with them their hopes for recreating family, for resurrecting the dream, and building a perfect Brady Bunch home. Their life since has given them a unique look into the real life of the stepfamily and what they have learned from their own story has been confirmed again and again through the many encounters they have had with others.
If being a single parent is the hardest job in the universe, then building a successful stepfamily home is the most complex task a couple can face. Addressing the tuff issues that both single parents and remarried couples face is what MEND Workshops is all about. Through curriculum, books, tapes, seminars, retreats, leadership training, and consultations, Dottie and Terrill reach, in a special way, into the dynamics that invade these twenty-first century family groups. Whether through the written materials or as a participant of a workshop, those who have become involved all agree, "This was one of the greatest things I have ever done for myself!"
For many years, Terrill has worked in local churches as a pastor, teacher, church planter, conference speaker, and pastoral counselor. His method of teaching brings a unique style of wisdom, story telling, group interaction, and roll playing. During the workshop he and Dottie will reach into the dynamics that invade the stepfamily, single parent, or couple struggling with their marriage and then begin a journey whereby the participants ask themselves questions, putting words to the ingredients that seem so elusive and often times so painful. They then weave the questions into the fabric of redemption, bringing the journey to a renewal of hope and rekindling of the dream.
